Mercy College

The Middletown Teacher Center, in collaboration with the NYSUT Education and Learning Trust and Mercy College offers two graduate degree programs:

• 36 credit Master of Science in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL)

• 36 credit Master of Science in Bilingual Education

About the program:

• Master’s Degree Program in TESOL leads to initial or professional certification.

• Master’s Degree Program in Bilingual Education will permit qualified applicants to earn Bilingual teacher certification. This program prepares students to teach limited English proficient children from diverse cultural backgrounds in regular, special education, and bilingual classrooms.

• Five courses, fifteen credits of coursework will be offered locally in the Middletown School District and will be treated as a cohort. A minimum of 10 students is required for the cohort to run. The maximum number allowed into the cohort is 25.

• After successfully completing the first 5 courses locally, students will matriculate with the college to complete the program. Mercy College will offer the remaining courses online and on-site at their campuses.

• Tuition for the coursework taken locally is $645.00 per 3 credit course.

• $100.00 deposit is required at the time of registration. Balances are due prior to the first class session. (Any checks written should be made out to: NYSUT ELT)

• Students in the cohort will receive a 1/3 tuition scholarship for those remaining credits.

• Students must register for courses at www.MyLearningPlan.com. Registration can also be accessed through the Middletown Teacher Website; www.middletowntc.org.

• Some additional paperwork is required. Please contact the Teacher Center for the required paperwork. This paperwork is posted on our website.

• All completed paperwork and tuition payments must be returned to the Teacher Center.
