The New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) and NYS Teacher Centers have partnered with SAS Curriculum Pathways to deliver professional development and training that will support the integration of high quality, secondary resources in classrooms throughout NYS. SAS Curriculum Pathways is designed to enhance student achievement and teacher effectiveness by providing free award winning Web-based curriculum resources in all the core disciplines. SAS Curriculum Pathways uses a broad range of instructional strategies and techniques, targets higher-order thinking skills and employs a learner-centered approach.  Please contact the Middletown Teacher Center for the unique login for teachers and students.

The New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) and New York State Teacher Centers are proud to be involved with the roll out of the Professor Garfield. Grade K-8 resources for teachers, parents and students.  The Professor Garfield Foundation is a not-for-profit 501(c) (3) educational collaboration between Paws, Inc., the global headquarters for Garfield the Cat, and Ball State University, a nationally recognized leader in teacher training and digital education.

The mission of the Professor Garfield foundation is to be a world leader in the direct, free delivery of innovative and motivational digital learning content with a primary emphasis on children’s literacy and cyber safety. The site contains fun and educationally sound interactive activities and games where kids like to play — on the Internet — supplemented with standards-based resources for teachers, parents and mentors.  NYS Teachers Centers train teachers in how to integrate these resources effectively in their instruction to support all students.

The New York Institute of Technology (NYIT)  and NYS Teacher Centers are the roll-out leaders in New York State for Thinkfinity.org, a free, comprehensive digital learning platform, built upon the merger of two acclaimed programs: Verizon Thinkfinity and the Thinkfinity Literacy Network. Thinkfinity.org is the cornerstone of Verizon Foundation’s Literacy, Education and Technology initiatives. Its goal is to improve student achievement in traditional classroom settings and beyond by providing high-quality content and extensive professional development training. As the roll-out leaders, NYIT and NYS Teacher Centers provide teachers with customized content/grade-level specific professional development in order to effectively integrate these free exemplary learning resources into instruction. Additionally, specialized trainings are available for using Thinkfinity content with interactive whiteboards.  Over a three-month period, the Thinkfinity NY website averages 300,000 hits by 34,000 unique visitors from every area of NYS. The professional development does not end with classroom teachers, as training is available for community based organizations, colleges and universities. Partner resource sites are continually updating their content. Check back frequently!

As the Intel® Teach Affiliate in New York State, the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) works through the New York State Teacher Centers to provide professional development for K-16 leaders and educators through a series of nationally and internationally validated courses. These courses lead teachers through the development of instructionally sound lessons which appropriately integrate technology while meeting the NYS content standards. Participants design unit plans infused with technology,  21st century learning and higher-order thinking skills. There are also courses which focus on STEM initiatives (science, technology, engineering and math) and a special leadership course designed to provide instructional leaders and administrators with the ability to plan and implement 21st century strategies into their schools. Intel® Teach offers courses through NYS Teacher Centers.

Educational Enterprise Zone (EEZ) Museums, Zoos and Other Cultural Institutions http://www.nyiteez.org/

The New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) Educational Enterprise Zone,  in cooperation with NYS Teacher Centers, brings hundreds of live interactive sessions connecting schools and libraries to museums and cultural centers via web 2.0 and videoconferencing. All classrooms can now have access to these exciting resources throughout New York State, the country and the world. The EEZ will enable every school, library and community organization in NYS to have access to the highest level of content with the use of simple and inexpensive webcams and speakers.

WNET http://vital.thirteen.org

WNET has partnered with NYIT and the NYS Teacher Centers to promote access and to provide training for the exciting VITAL program.  In partnership with Channel 13/WNET,  NY Teacher Centers will be working on training models to insure the most effective use of this free, standards aligned video system. VITAL has a collection of over 2,000 resources for teachers and students, including Regents- Review Live! Resources, Teachers Domain materials and high-quality PBS content.  PBS will be working with us to create a training model in both traditional face to face formats as well as on-line formats.   Stay tuned for more information about this exciting and valuable program, but please feel free to start utilizing the service and to place the link to the resource on your website.

Thinkquest-Oracle http://www.thinkquest.org/en/

The New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) and New York State Teacher Centers are pleased to partner with the Oracle Foundation to bring to schools across the state a learning platform where teachers and students create learning projects. Participants in Thinkquest develop 21st century skills such as critical thinking, teamwork, communications, creativity, technology, self direction, and cross cultural understanding. The Oracle Education Foundation offers K-12 schools a safe environment at no cost. Thinkquest is password protected, teacher monitored, and includes no advertising. Training and information will be coming soon.

Faulkes-Telescope Project http://www.faulkes-telescope.com

The Faulkes-Telescope Project, partner of Las Cumbres Observatory Global Telescope Network, provides LIVE access to a global network of telescopes and supplies free resources for research- based Science education.  NY State Teachers are pleased to partner with this project in support of NYS STEM initiatives. Teacher Centers are the providers of professional development and support for this exciting K-12 opportunity.

The newest technology partner for NYS Teacher Centers and NYIT,  New York follows Oregon, Iowa, Colorado and Maryland as the fifth and largest state to bring Google Apps access to K-12 classrooms and will join more than 8 million students and teachers using Google Apps. NYS Teacher Centers offer educators the opportunity to pursue their own educational goals anytime, anywhere by providing high quality, facilitated, and standards-based online course work. Featured are classes in Instructional Strategies, Special Education, Science, Social Studies, Humanities, Math, Technology and ELA. The NYS Teacher Center Online Academy consists of totally web-based, 15-hour inservice credit courses and targeted webinars. They are offered both statewide and locally throughout the year for teachers and other educational staff and adhere to the rigorous Standards for Online Learning. All OLA Instructors receive special training, offered through NYIT, in developing their online courses. Ask how your educational association or organization may become part of the NYSTC Online Academy, with classes designed to suit your specific curricular needs!  The OLA will also support teachers as they learn how to work with students in the virtual environment, from credit recovery, course delivery or use of an extended learning environment. High quality coursework and accessible ease of use have spurred strong interest in the OLA.
